therapy.
I am body and movement-oriented (embodied) talking psychotherapist. I work primarily outdoors in place with nature, as well as online, for those who do not live locally. This means we will talk, walk, as well as work to understand what’s happening at the level of our bodies.
I am interested in creative approaches to therapy, personal expression, and how we understand each other in therapy as an intersubjective process. Therapy is a collaborative and dynamic relationship between two curious people and the contexts and environments in which we live, and no two therapies are the same.
You are the expert on your life, and my role is to help you make sense of the things you feel, the stories you carry, your dreams, the things/symptoms happening in your body, the psychological obstacles you face. But you also live in a context, in an ecology, in a vast web. I am interested in how we balance the needs of ourselves as individuals with the imperatives of the times we live in. Together we will seek to gain new understanding and integrate insights within the sanctuary of the therapeutic space.
I currently only offer short and medium term therapy - anything from a few sessions to a year or two. While our work together might go on longer, my schedule is often interleaved with periods of travel and time away from the therapeutic space. This will be discussed on enquiry, but if you are seeking weekly, long-term sessions with ongoing consistency and no breaks then I am unable to offer this.
I am keen to begin therapy by understanding together ‘what are we doing here?’ and ‘How will we know what that looks like?’ I am interested in a complex but clear-sighted therapy that knows what it is moving towards, even when solutions are not required, but a listening space is. You are welcome to get in touch using the form opposite if you think this is the sort of therapy you would like to explore.
I am a accredited registered, insured member of the National Counselling Society, and receive regular supervision and mentoring. I undertake frequent Continual Professional Development - at least 100 hours per year.
Who do you work with?
Good outcomes in therapy are often about the relationship and ‘fit’ between therapist and client. If you identify with any of the following statements we might be a good fit. Get in touch. This is not an exhaustive or definitive list of who I work with, but will give you a sense of things. I have spent years offering therapy, and I know how I work best. In our first session we will explore our potential fit and both have the opportunity to decide if therapy is going to work.
